61 - His eye is on the sparrow
1.
Why should I feel discouraged? Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven's home,
When Christ the Lord is my portion? My faithful Keeper is He.
He even cares for the sparrow; how much more He’ll care for me.
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain:
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
2.
“Let not your heart be troubled;” His tender words I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubt and fear.
Along life’s pathway He leads me, but just one step I may see.
He even cares for the sparrow; how much more He’ll care for me.
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
3.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Jesus, for there in safety I’ll be.
He even cares for the sparrow; how much more He’ll care for me.
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
