2 - Near, ever nearer, close to my heart

Near, ever nearer, close to my heart,

Draw nigh, my Savior, so precious Thou art.

Grant that my heart would wholly be Thine;

Shelter me safely, O Fortress of mine,

Help me stand only on Thee, Rock divine.

2:

Near, ever nearer, Lord, I am Thine;

Sin, with its follies, I gladly resign,

Thy holy will be done in my life;

Make me a vessel by Thee purified,

Filled with Thy Spirit, to Thee sanctified.

3:

Near, ever nearer, Lord, unto Thee,

Thy Holy Spirit gives grace unto me;

He guides my steps in justice each day,

Changing my thoughts, so Thy will I obey,

Giving me courage to walk in Thy way.

4:

Near, ever nearer, while life shall last,

Till in Thy glory all sorrows be past.

For life eternal, I’ll ever be

Nearer, my Savior, still nearer to Thee,

Nearer, my Savior, still nearer to Thee.
