19 - Abide with me
1.
Abide with me, Lord, be my strength and guide;
In times of suff’ring, keep me at Thy side.
When trials come and all my comforts flee,
By grace divine, O Lord, abide with me.
2.
Swift is the journey, rapid all decay,
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Loss and dismay in all around I see,
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
3.
I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can stop the tempter's pow'r?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and aid can be?
Through joy or sadness, Lord, abide with me.
4.
I fear no foe, when Thou art nigh to bless,
When my eyes close, in hope my soul shall rest.
Life that is perfect, life that is sublime,
Life in the heavens will be for all time.
